The souls of our youth
Taken away and destroyed
A culture of war
This one was inspired by a segment I recently listened to in an episode of This American Life. The episode, #515 - Good Guys, had an interview with a soldier who discussed the urge he has to kill, how it remains even back at home, and how it emerged within him during training. The concept of killing another human being is a line we all know we should not cross, but they are trained to cross that line. I think that's why we recruit the youth to fight our battles, not just because they are healthier and more agile, but because their minds are easier to break and souls easier to corrupt. Then back home, a man snaps and shoots a bunch of people and we wonder why. It's a culture of war, a society corrupted.
