A Big Decision

"Alright, fine. Let's do it."

"Are you sure?" he asked her. He searched for the certainty in her eyes, the same certainty he had that certainly made him look crazy. Instead he only observed the small crinkles of worry. He needed to know this was something she wanted. That it wasn't just him. There's no turning back after this.

"Look, Stace, since the day I met you..."

"No. No, me too. It's just... it's a big decision, you know? It... it changes everything." She looked down at her hands, she always wrings her hands when she's stressed out, but then Jason put his hands over hers. His hands were steady, rough, and radiated warmth. Just like that, it was like she could breathe again. "Okay, let's do it," she said, "Let's do it tonight."

The sun rose over the horizon, bathing the downtown city streets with its rays of orange and red. The sidewalks bustled with an urgency that betrayed the serenity of the early morning air. "Hey, wait up!" Two children, around 10 years old, flew through the doors of the Bimini building. "C'mon Stacy! The arcade's down this way." She fidgeted with her new clothes and bolted after Jason. That's the one thing they always have trouble with when it comes to these procedures, they need time to get used to being in their new skin.

"Jay, slow down! We got plenty of time now." They giggled, he grabbed her by the hand, and they disappeared into the crowd.
