Light in the Darkness

...and at that moment, when she laid her head on his shoulder, he knew that there was no way he could ever be anything other than completely in love with her. This woman, with all of her quirks, imperfections and differences was the one who had changed his life for the better.

It was something he had known all along. Why had it taken so much time for him to discover how he really felt? It haunted him, the question clinging to him like a dark shadow. He only escapes the darkness during these moments. These times when she is around to light up his life. "I don't want to live without you," he said. "I'm afraid of the dark."

She gave him a quizzical look, something familiar to their relationship. "You can explain that to me later sweetie, how about right now you just let me rest my eyes..."

"I love you, that's all." He kissed her forehead and smiled as she laid her head on his shoulder once again.
