The Cove

Far from home, there were no signs of civilization and the pair had left with nothing but each other. Friends for life, and lovers for only a month, the couple had made the decision only two nights prior. If they had any chance of surviving, they'd have to make it across the island. The southernmost point would be their best chance to escape, and the only chance for their child's survival.

The light trickled in where the dead trees used to stand, but otherwise the jungle was dense and darkness was the norm. Any signs of life were heard but not seen, save for eyes that were glowing in the distance. An unnatural phosphorescence illuminated pathways for those ill-prepared for such an undertaking. Hands grasped tightly, the two were determined to cross the uncrossable.

They'd be lucky if they made it out alive.

  1. Your stories are always so illuminating. Or should I say phosphorescent? Just kidding! Nice job! Yet another great story!
